Howdy all,
The last two days have been much cooler and nicer at the banding station.
There has been an increase in the number of migratory birds here but we are
still
not catching a lot yet. The past two days, we have banded 27 and 34 birds
which is a little disappointing. There were quite a few birds around this
morning. The biggest problem the last two days has been the east winds blowing
our
nets around, decreasing our capture rates. Nonetheless, the two days have been
super nice. Anyway, the best bird on the 24th was a MOURNING WARBLER and two
CHUCK-WILL'S-WIDOWS. Today the best bird was probably the CHESTNUT-SIDED
WARBLER. We did see our first push of VEERYS into the area and finally caught
our
first WORM-EATING WARBLER of the season.

It is nice to see the diversity we are catching. As always, I wish the
numbers were a little higher. But then again, it is only August!
Hope to see everyone at the station!
Cheers,
