Howdy all,
Geez, no rain today either! What a streak!
Banding today was slower than we were hoping for. Yesterday there was quite a
few migrants around but not around today. We did manage to band 16 birds today,
which is about normal for this time of year so I guess we should not complain
too much. The season has been off to a great start. It's amazing how spoiled we
can get so fast! Not much in the way of highlights today. I guess the two
Yellow Warblers was good. We usually don't catch that many here. Last year we
banded a whole ONE Yellow Warbler. This year we have caught 7. The soft crab
sandwich at Stingrays was a good highlight as well.
Birds banded today 8/19:
Redstart 1
Black and white warbler 1
Yellow warbler 2
N. Waterthrush 1
Field Sparrow 4
Grasshopper Sparrow 1
Cardinal 3
Mockingbird 1
Yellow-billed cuckoo 1
Brown Thrasher 1
Looks to be warm again tomorrow. Hope we catch more than 10, but I am not
holding my breath.
Hope everyone is planning their trip to the banding station!
See you there!
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
