Howdy all,
Well it sure looks like migration here for songbirds is on it's last leg.
Numbers have been low the last few days still and we are starting to see a lot
of recaptures (birds that most likely will be calling the eastern shore home
this winter). On the 13th we actually did not band. It was way too windy and
quite damp and cold. It was the first day we have missed all season! But we
managed to band the last three days. During the last three days, we have
managed to catch only ONE Yellow-rumped Warbler!! Looks to be another super low
year for them on the shore this winter. On the other hand, Song Sparrows are in
good numbers still in the park. We banded 31 total for the last three days. We
also had our first push of Fox Sparrows on the 15th.

The season is almost over here at the banding station. The last day of banding
is going to be the 22nd of this month. Only six more days! It has been a long
season but a good one. I hope there is one more surprise for us this week.
Guess we'll see!
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
