Gene Burreson and I visited the south (main) section of Beaverdam Park in
Gloucester this morning from 0600-0730.
Overall, it was a slow morning for migrants and everything else. However,
the main highlight was a singing KENTUCKY WARBLER right over the trail
within 30 feet of us in the section of trail we call "warbler alley". This
is the same area where the Mourning Warbler was found last year. The
Kentucky sang for a long time and seemed committed to his spot - perhaps
he'll stay, find a mate, and breed. I also heard what I am reasonably
certain was a second Kentucky, but we never saw it.
Also found a SWAINSON'S THRUSH, a YELLOW-THROATED VIREO, a bunch of
BLACKPOLLS (they've been around in Gloucester in numbers for at least two
weeks now), and a mated pair of SCARLET TANAGERS.
