Hola,
Bob Abrams (not on VA-Birds any longer) reported to me that he had a junco
singing at Hemlock Overlook along the Occoquan River in Fairfax County Sunday
at about three PM. He reports the bird as confined to a small gorge, and he
thinks it looked like it was on territory (but what does Bob know?). The
bird was there a couple times when he passed by the spot. Junco isn't a known
breeder from this area, so there's a better chance that it is a late migrant.
Regardless, this is exceptionally late for the Coastal Plain.
Cheers,
Todd
