It was a beautiful day to spend in Burke's Garden. We entered on 666 (left
into the valley) the then went on around the circle with side trips onto 727
and Station Spring Rd.
We saw lots of red-tailed hawks and American Kestrels. The highlight was THREE
Golden Eagles flying over our heads (about 100 ft.) and then one hunted along
the ridge so we were able to watch him for a while. All three were in
binoculars at one time. One adult, one immature and not sure of age on the
third. We were headed east along 666 and they came toward us from the west
then went up along the north ridge. This was near Round Mountain Rd. off of
666. We saw another golden eagle later when we were on Rt. 727, but felt that
is was probably one of the three we had already seen.
