Hello VA birders,
I spent an enjoyable couple of hours (6:30 am - 8:30 am ) at James River
Park, in the City of Richmond this morning. Nothing unexpected, but it was
quite birdy and there was lots of bird song. 49 species, with 11 warblers.
BLACKPOLLs were abundant as were AMERICAN REDSTART. Also notable were at
least 10 CANADA WARBLERS, and 2 late(ish) YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS. CEDAR
WAXINGS totaled at least 200. The EASTERN SECREECH OWL was in it's hole when
I left the park (it wasn't showing at around 7 am). Great looks at VEERY and
BALTIMORE ORIOLE too.
