VA Birders,
I went to Huntley Meadows Park, Fairfax Co., this morning to see if the
Black Rail was still there. I looked for it from about 7:45 am to about 10
am. We heard the rail call at 8:35 am and again at 8:55 am, and then very
briefly about 9:30 am. It called very briefly each of these times, and it
was not nearly as loud as on previous occasions when I heard it. It still
seemed to be inside the loop. On the way out, near the beginning of the
boardwalk, 2 Yellow-crowned Night-Herons flew over about 10:30 am.
