Greetings...
While in the neighborhood yesterday, my father and I spent about forty-five
minutes at Huntley Meadows, a little after noon. It was hot, but a nice
breeze kept things almost pleasant.
The most notable birds we saw were a dozen Blue-winged Teal and a
Black-billed Cuckoo. The teal were all eclipse males and females. The
Cuckoo flew across the boardwalk as we were walking back to the car. Both
were my first of the season.
Also seen were about thirty Least Sandpipers, one Semipalmated Sandpiper,
five Solitaries, three Spotteds, maybe a dozen Lesser Yellowlegs, and scores
of Chimney Swifts and Rough-winged Swallows.
Cheers...
Todd
