Visting the Huntley backside Saturday evening around 7:30pm, the first bird we
got a good glimpse of was a Blue Grosbeak (my first!). An Indigo Bunting sat
right next to it giving me good comparisons in size and color (and beak!)
between the two.
I also visited Hunltey frontside Saturday morning and got to see a Green Heron
with his crown up, a grackle with a tiny frog in its mouth, bluebirds and
common yellowthroats.
Sunday morning I couldn't help but return to Huntley backside - but there
wasn't anything totally noteworthy to report. Near the end of my walk, what I
assume to be a Sharp-Shinned flew over the meadow and frightened a good dozen
Goldfinches out of the brush!
If it weren't for those darn buzzing flies, it might have been the perfect
birding weekend with this great mild weather.
