sparrows

A brief addition to Ben's list from the Huntley "back 40"
Between 8 and 11 AM on the boardwalk loop and "informal" trail back to
the
colony of red-headed woodpeckers, highlights were one palm warbler
(right side,
a few yards before the towers, after the trail to the left splits off),
both
golden- and ruby-crowned kinglets, a lone great egret, one green-winged
teal,
at least four snipe, afore-mentioned greater yellow-legs (we didn't
see/hear
lessers) and about half a dozen killdeer: A barred owl was seen (not by
us)
between the parking lot and the visitor center, and the lone green heron
is still
present and was seen (again, not by us) flying, so it is both finding
food and
capable of flight. List follows:

Great blue heron
Great egret
Red-shouldered hawk
