We also did a count of hummers at our place on Paris Mtn (by Mt. Weather)
this weekend. We also have two feeders -- identical and freshly filled -- one
on
the deck, the other out front by the garage.
We did get 2-3 females or juvenile ruby-throats at the newer feeder in front.
But the original feeder in the deck (close to planters with geraniums and
petunias in bloom) had much more traffic, with at least 6 (a couple of males,
mostly female/immatures) coming to feed and squabble, even during the time we
and
a neighbor were sitting on the deck a few feet away.
