I visited Hog Island WMA in Surry County this past Sunday morning from 0730
to 1200.  The largest variety of species, at the main tract, was near the
lookout tower at the north end of the WMA.  Shorebird species included:
SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, both YELLOWLEGS, SPOTTED, LEAST, SEMIPALMATED, 2 STILT,
and 3 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, DUNLIN, and SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS.  TERN
species included: LEAST, ROYAL, CASPIAN, and FORSTER'S.  A few groups
BOBOLINKS flew overhead sporadically throughout the morning.  The other
summer species were present, including at least 5 BALD EAGLES.

At the Carlisle Tract were the warbler species: NORTHERN PARULA, PINE,
PRAIRIE, BLACKPOLL, AMERICAN REDSTART, OVENBIRD, YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, and
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT.
