Hi All.
On my Way to Hog Island In Surry Co. today. Several large flocks of
Bobolinks On Rt 673 Just of Rt.10. There were mixed flocks of swallows
everywhere. Bank, Tree, NRW, Cliff, Barn, and Martins. Good numbers of
warblers Prairie, Yellow, Pine, and Yellow Throated .
It took us almost a 1/2 day to Get to Hog Island The Big surprise of the
day Was a Female Evening Grosbeak. John Porter and I had a Supper look
in the wide open a 8 Ft from us, and about 6 Ft of the ground. The bird
was about 1/2 way down the road on the Right side of Rd. Along way from
Highland Co.! For the ones who know Hog Island it was just past the path
that goes past old Holly Tree with the fence around it. Not many
shorebirds today all the impoundments are full of water . Couldn't find
the Upland Sandpiper I guess all the rain has them looking for cover.
We also saw Crows and Killdeer walking around two Bald Eagle on a
Sandbar.?
When I got home I found The best Warblers in my Back Yard a Blue
Wing, Canada, Connecticut, Yellow and a Male Redstart.
