VA BIRDers,
Several folks are organizing a one-day spring count of birds in Highland
County on Monday, May 15, 2006. Several normally closed and off-limit areas
have been opened up for the count. And we need a few more teams to
effectively cover the county. Please send me a note if you're interested -
arrangements have been made to provide some (limited) sleeping quarters the
nights before and after the count.
This is a good opportunity to look for the many high mountain specialties
and to find unusual migrants. Golden Eagles! Sedge Wren! Golden-winged
Warbler! Mourning Warbler! Vesper Sparrow! Lincoln Sparrow! Bobolink!
Purple Finch! All birders are welcome! Come on down and join in on the fun
plus help develop a database that can be used for management plans.
Wishing You Great Migratory Birds!
