Sunday, February 8-
Gordy Adamski and I drove over to Highland County today with hopes of
finding Rough-legged Hawk. Boy, we were not disappointed with several each
of Light- and Dark-phased.
Most roads were passable with few back roads closed. Along one stretch of
Rt. 250 heading west toward Monterey it was reduced to one lane. It
appeared the left (eastbound) lane had washed away!!!
Several highlights of the trip:
(Hey, it was Larry Lynch and Lauren Scott once again!)
Golden Eagle - 3
American Tree Sparrow - 2 (1 at McDowell feeders; 1 at Beverage's feeder in
Monterey)
Pine Siskin - 1 (McDowell feeders)
Purple Finch - 1 (McDowell feeders)
Snow Bunting - 1 among large flock of Horned Lark near 640.
Wild Turkey
Red-tailed Hawk - numerous!!
