11/8..
We had a very pleasant walk at Henricus Park this morning. We saw one of the
barred owls. He ignored us for awhile and then just stared us down. Great looks
at a couple of kingfishers. Beautiful views through the scope of a preening RS
hawk and views of him hunting .
The first Pied-billed Grebe of the year was hunting just below us on the second
overlook and was very persistent.
Woodpeckers were in abundance..flickers, red bellied, pileated..with
outstanding color.
Gadwalls and wigeons are coming in, but didn't see any of the resident wood
ducks.
Skeins of geese flying all over..
My husband Jim and our friend Jim Foxworth and I birded together.
