First post of the season basically because there
has been little to post. Northern sites posting good
early numbers do not apply to us. Weather (fog) and
lack of steady winds may be most of the problem,
although few migrants of any nature have been
noticed coming through, except for swifts and swallows.
Yesterday we were treated to 2 fly-by Red-headed
Woodpeckers.
Below are the last 2 days and year to date numbers.
9/6 9/7 YTD
Osprey 5 2 17
Bald Eagle 1 1 7
N. Harrier 1 0 1
Sharp-shinned 1 0 8
Cooper's 0 0 1
BW 3 0 11
Red-tailed 0 0 10

totals 12 3 46
Harvey's Knob is located on the Blue Ridge
Parkway at milepost 94.5 about 15 miles
north of Roanoke, Va.
