Visitors:
Few folks dropped in today including volunteer counters Dave Hunter and
Allen Larner, John Lloyd.
Weather:
Steady NW wind 6-15km/h prevailed through the morning decreasing to 1-5km/h
by 2pm EST;
Temperature: 18c>24c;
Humidity: 88% (fog at lower level below top of ridge) and humidity levels
dropped to 40%;
Zero cloud cover increasing to a few puffs and thin cirrus.
Raptor Observations:
First few birds came up low, including Osprey shooting across the gap below
eye level like a falcon. Rest of the day, the Broad-wing we could locate
were tiny specs high overhead in bright blue sky or far off to the east.
Rose Thomas spotted first eagle of the day, a juv. BE at 1:45pm; 2nd juv.
over towers to NE at 3:19 was soon joined by an adult. The 2 streamed out
over east side of ridge and then for next 5 or so minutes circled together
joined by a local Red-tailed.
Peregrine Falcon first spotted by Dave Hunter flew over gap directly
overhead at 2:41 EST.
Non-raptor Observations:
Baltimore Oriole - 2;
White-tailed Deer - buck and doe;
Monarch Butterfly - 32;
Hummingbird - 3
