Observers: Brenda Tekin
Visitors:
Special thanks to Mike Reyman and Jim Hylton for helping out.
And, a thank you to the unidentified young man sitting in the restaurant
who tapped on the window to bring attention to an adult Red-shouldered
that was slowly gliding over the old skating rink at eye level at 3:40
p.m. as I was totalling the tally sheet.
Weather:
Wind 1-5 km/h from SW during first hour then increased to 6-11 km/h out of
NW between 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. with bulk of birds spotted during this
time. Wind then dimished to out of SW to less than 5 km/h.
Temp: (high) 10.5c (steadily increased through 3:30 p.m.)
Humidity: 37 to 39% down to 36%
Barametric Pres.: 1013 increasing to 1015
Cloud cover: partly cloudy the first hour then zero clouds for remainder
of day.
Observations:
CORRECTION TO ORIGINAL SUBMISSION: The 96 Rough-legged originally reported
were in fact Red-tailed. (Need to adjust bifocals.)
Red-tails were flying much higher, some tiny specs high up in bright blue
sky.
Adult Northern Goshawk came through at 9:38 a.m.; at 9:51 an adult NOGO
zipped north across interstate then slowly worked through the trees below
top of ridge before it disappeared heading north at 9:55 a.m. I had to
subtract it from the tally sheet.
Small bands of Am.Robin (several hundred)
Cedar Waxwing - several impressive flocks back and forth
Eastern Bluebird - several small flocks
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
Monarch Butterfly - 4
Predictions:
Rain, AGAIN.
