Regarding the "birding attractiveness" of Greenbriar Park and other
locations ...
My Pipit sighting at Greenbriar was on Sunday morning, and I think Jim's
was from Saturday. But, on Saturday afternoon, I also saw a very
suspicious flock of sparrow-like birds on a gravel/grass area, right at
a busy corner of Fairfax County Parkway with some cross street, like
West Ox Road or Franklin Farm or one of those. This was an extremely
"unpromising" location. But without going into detail on the ID issues,
I'm betting that the flock I saw on the Parkway edge was also American
Pipits.
Bottom line for me: Every location is good, when the birds show up
there. I'm keeping my eyes open on the way to work this morning.

Jim and others,
I've never been to Greenbrier Park, unless you count
yesterday when I was in my car in the parking lot.
The park may be just a ballfield.
Glad to see Steve Johnson's post about the Pipits.

I just saw a note about this location on the board.
Is this a common
birding destination? If someone has a link to info
on species etc that
would be great.
The reason I ask, is that I live in Greenbriar, and
have never
considered this location.
Thanks
Jim
