Today (Mon 4/19), I birded the James River Overlook,Otter Lake,
and Otter Creek Campground in Amherst Co and Big Island Paper Mill
ponds in Bedford Co. Total=93 species!
Birds of note included: 6 vireo sp (Red-eyed,Blue-headed,White-eyed,
Yellow-throated,Warbling, and Philadelphia); 21 warbler sp.
(Blue-winged,N. Parula,Yellow,Chestnut-sided,Blk-thr Blue,Blk thr.Green,
yellow-throated,y-rumped,Pine,Prairie,Palm,Cerulean,B&W,redstart,
Prothonotary,Worm-eating,Ovenbird,LA waterthrush,C.yellowthroat,Hooded,
Wilson's); 6 swallow sp (Barn,Bank,Cliff,N.R-winged,Tree,P.Martin);
Wood Thrush,Scarlet Tanager,Rose-breasted Grosbeak,Orchard and Baltimore
Oriole,House Wren; Eastern Kingbird,Acadian Flycatcher; 2 Pectoral,
1 Solitary and 1 Spotted Sandpiper; 2 DC Cormorant, 2 Osprey,
1 Bald Eagle, 6 Wood Duck. Alas, no partridge in a pear tree.
All in all, A GREAT SPRING DAY!!
