I walked several miles on the Washington Ditch today, and saw my first
Indigo Bunting of the year right off the bat as I was driving to the parking
lot! Also, at around 5:00 p.m. I heard a Barred Owl hooting in the
distance, and then I heard another respond close by. Out of the corner of
my eye, I saw the nearby Owl fly off, and then I listened as they proceeded
to hoot to eachother and make their monkey-like noises. Here are the birds
that I saw:
Great Blue Heron 1
Turkey Vulture 3
Solitary Sandpiper 1
Spotted Sandpiper 1
Belted Kingfisher 1
Red-bellied Woodpecker 1
Downy Woodpecker 2
Pileated Woodpecker 1
Great Crested Flycatcher 3
Carolina Chickadee 10
Tufted Titmouse 4
White-breasted Nuthatch 2
Carolina Wren 2
Gray Catbird 5
Black-and-white Warbler 2
American Redstart 15
Prothonotary Warbler 28
Louisiana Waterthrush 1
Common Yellowthroat 4
Hooded Warbler 4
White-throated Sparrow 2
Indigo Bunting 1
