Laura and VA Birders,
I saw an immature or female (I'm not sure which - forgive me Todd and
Eric) soaring over Airlie (near Warrenton, Fauquier county) on Friday
about noon time. This is only the second Golden Eagle I've seen over
the Piedmont so I was pretty surprised. There was absolutely no white
in the wings. It had a black terminal tail band. The rest of the tail
was grayish from underneath but looked more white on top. Perhaps Laura
and I saw the same bird. Airlie is only about 10 miles from Sky
Meadows!
