I will not be able to be in Highland County this weekend. I had thought that
my house would be occupied by guests, but they have had to back out. I would
welcome birders to come by and bird my place, on the Virginia/West Virginia
line on Wimer Mountain Road. I saw two Golden Eagles there last weekend, flying
low together across the road. Also had Blue-winged and Golden-winged Warblers,
Black-billed Cuckoos, American Tree Sparrow, and other birds of interest.
You are welcome to pick up something for lunch in Blue Grass at the Country
Convenience and bring it up and eat it on my deck. Who knows what you might
find?
Those of you keeping lists by state, bear in mind that the line goes up
between the house and the barn, the barn is actually in West Virginia.
Watch out for rattlesnakes and please do them no harm. Call me crazy, but I
like them.

Subject: [va-bird] Golden Eagle event in Highland Co
A reminder that the Golden Chase event will be occuring on the weekend of May
18-20. There is still room for birdathon teams or people who just want to bird
that weekend. Since this is a fund raiser, we do ask that you get pledges for
your efforts. There is a free brunch offered to team members on Sunday. I am
offering a reduction of cabin prices for the weekend. So please call me at
540-468-2700 if you can participate. May is migration month (as you all know)
and this is an excellent opportunity to document migrating species in Highland
County, plus raise money for the important telemetry research on Golden Eagles.
