VA-birders....
This afternoon, I refound a Glossy Ibis that was found at Henricus Park
by
Lauren Scott this past Saturday. This time, it was midway between the two
observation platforms.
It would be nice if the ibis would stay around for the VSO Annual
Meeting,
since this is one of our destinations for the field trips. Other birds
seen here
during past migrations have included: Sora, Common Moorhen, Bald
Eagles (appear almost daily) and the following species that nest in the
park:
LEAST BITTERN
Prothonotary Warblers
American Redstarts
Yellow-throated Warblers
Barred Owls
Red-shouldered Hawks
Tree Swallows
woodpeckers including Red-headed
etc. etc. etc.
This park also has a visitor's center with clean restrooms, plus easy
birding
for those who do not like to go very far from the car. For those who
like to
hike or bike, there is a four-mile (each way) trail that is excellent for
birding.
And there is a boardwalk (with stairs) that leads to an area where the
Prothonotary Warblers are easily seen.
Come on out during the annual meeting and check it out! If you have any
questions about the annual meeting field trips, send me a note.
