I had to make a run to National Airport today and took the opportunity to
spend an hour at Gravelly Point Park, and was rewarded with three
"official" life birds, bringing my US life list to 202. I qualify the life
birds because I know I've seen an American Kestrel--I apparently just never
recorded him. The other two were Redheads, which I've just never managed to
get out to see, and White-winged Scoter! Thanks to the gentleman who was
chasing WWSC and had him in his scope when I approached! I'm sure my
numbers are low for the ducks since I didn't have my scope with me. It was
such a beautiful day that I wish I could have spent the afternoon there,
waiting for the Blackcrowned Night heron and the Snowy Owls to show.
