Eleven people showed up for the bird walk at the Banshee Reeks Nature
Preserve in central Loudoun Co (www.bansheereeks.org) this morning, Sept.
9. The highlights of the 51-species day included several vocal & well-see
WHITE-EYED VIREOS, CATBIRDS everywhere, a NASHVILLE WARBLER, a PRAIRIE
WARBLER, and a CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER.
We also saw a few butterflies but not as many as usual due to the heavy fog
which didn't lift for awhile. Monarchs were most abundant.
Banshee is open to the general public next week (the 3rd weekend of the
month) on Saturday & Sunday, Sept. 16 & Sept. 17, from 8 am to 4 pm and the
Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy's last Butterfly & Dragonfly Walk of the
season is scheduled for 10:30 am on the 16th.
