I birded the canal path this morning from 7:30-10:30 am and logged 54 species.
They included:
Great Blue Heron 5
Turkey Vulture 2
Canada Goose 11
Wood Duck 4
Mallad 5 plus 5 small chicks with one of the females.
Osprey 1
Red-shouldered Hawk 1 at one point being harrassed by a Mockingbird and at
another point by two Gnatcatchers.
Mourning Dove 5
Chimney Swift 7 swooping down to pond for water.
Red-bellied Woodpecker 3
Downy Woodpecker 3
Northern Flicker 1
E. Phoebe 3
Great Crested Flycatcher 1
E. Kingbird 2
White-eyed Vireo 1
Red-eyed Vireo 4
Blue Jay 2
American Crow 6
Fish Crow 1
Tree Swallow 2
N. Rough-winged Swallow 3
Barn Swallow 26 -- nesting under the route 1 bridge.
