VA Birders,
Highlights of our Friday, May 7, NVBC bird walk at Fort C.F. Smith Park,
Arlington Co., were: Great Crested Flycatcher, Red-eyed Vireo*, No.
Rough-winged Swallow, Wood Thrush, Brown Thrasher*, Cedar Waxwing,
Blue-winged*,
Black-and-White, & Canada Warblers, Scarlet Tanager*, Rose-breasted Grosbeak*,
Indigo Bunting, and Orchard & Baltimore Orioles.
Birds seen by several of us who gathered informally at the park today
included a Cooper's Hawk and Pileated Woodpecker, both of which flew over the
Bird Stream (separately), No. Parula, Black-throated Green* & Bay-breasted
Warblers, and a pair of Orchard Orioles*.
Birds with a "*" came to the Bird Stream; the pair of Orchard Orioles
bathed side by side!
