It had been a long time since I have seen a Fox Sparrow in my Falls Church
yard. So I was both surprised and delighted to see one pecking around in
the seed blown off my feeders about noon today. It was a handsome bird with
a very rufous tail and clear, dark, rufous breast markings. I watched it for
3-5 minutes before it flew off. I saw him again at about 2, and just a few
minutes ago about 3:30.
What a nice treat on a cold winter's day.
