I assume the gentle southerly winds on Thursday night brought birds all over
the region. They certainly did to White Oaks Park. On Friday morning I had a
nice mix of early migrants. And I flushed a woodcock in the woods, which I
have done once before, several years ago.
In addition to the woodcock:
10 cormorants overhead
10 flickers
2 sapsuckers
5 phoebe
5 hermit thrush
1 gnatcatcher (male)
20 ruby-crowned kinglets (rare that they outnumber yellow-rumps)
2 golden-crowned kinglets
3 creeper
8 yellow-rumps
1 blue-headed vireo
2 song sparrow
10 white-throats
2 towhee
