Howdy all,
A quick post of the birds banded today. There were lots of birds around this
morning, with the majority of them warblers. Although I was not able to go
birding to pick through the flocks, I am sure there was some goodies around.
The
majority of the birds there were COMMON YELLOWTHROATS, BLACKPOLLS, and GRAY
CATBIRDS. I caught two new species for the station today: SWAINSON'S THRUSH and
BLUE GROSBEAK. Also there was a nice push of NORTHERN WATERTHRUSHES today as
well.
The quick list:
NORTHERN PARULA 2
REDSTART 3
C. YELLOWTHROAT 20
BLACK-THROATED BLUE 1
BLACK-&-WHITE 1
BLACKPOLL 14
NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH 6
SWAMP SPARROW 3
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW 4
BLUE GROSBEAK 1
VEERY 1
SWAINSON'S THRUSH 3
TUFTED TITMOUSE 1
GRAY CATBIRD 13
C. GRACKLE 2
TOTAL ----------------------------------- 75
Not a bad day! And for a change, catbirds were in 3rd place! I like the
number of Blackpolls.
Geez, what is tomorrow going to hold??
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
