Howdy all,
The last two days have been pretty good to us. Yesterday was an interesting
day from the start. After the heavy rains of the early morning, we were greeted
with high winds when we woke up. I decided that we should try to run at least
a few nets despite the bad weather. It ended up paying off a little. We only
banded for 5 hours but managed to catch 19 birds including our first WOOD
THRUSH of the season. We then went birding early in the afternoon and found a
flock that contained A. REDSTART, WORM-EATING, BLUE-WINGED, BLACK-THROATED
BLUE,
PRAIRIE, PALM, BLACK-AND-WHITE, PINE, YELLOW-RUMPED, C. YELLOWTHROAT, N.
PARULA, B-G GNATCATCHER, and BLUE-HEADED VIREO. The REDSTART was the first we
have
seen in the park this season.
Today was just as good. We ended up banding 27 and had our first INDIGO
BUNTING of the season. Shannon heard a YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER on Kingfisher
Trail.
