Howdy all,
Once again, we saw a few more migrants around the station today. It still is
not quite bird city USA but it is getting better. And it was a spectacular day
to be outside! We ended up banding a total of 24 birds. We banded a
BLUE-WINGED WARBLER and a surprising WESTERN PALM WARBLER. Last year the Palm
Warblers
I saw here were all the yellow race. So it was nice to catch a western race
this year. We ended up banding seven species of warblers today.
Here is the list of birds banded 4/25:
Prairie Warbler 1
Northern Parula 2
Common Yellowthroat 4
Yellow Palm Warbler 1
Western Palm Warbler 1
Blue-winged Warbler 1 first of the season
Black-and-white Warbler 3
Yellow-rumped Warbler 1
Swamp Sparrow 3
American Goldfinch 2 first of the season
Gray Catbird 5
TOTAL------------------------- 24
Looks like the brakes are on for tomorrow. Not much of a fan of 15-20 mph
north winds.
Cheers,
Jethro
