The number of nighthawks flying around in the lights at Tysons Corner was
noticeably less on Monday and Tuesday nights than the large number seen the
previous four nights. On Monday, in a light rain, there were 20+ birds, and
last night even fewer. I saw maybe 10-12 birds between 8:30 and 9:00. But,
by the time I left, about 9:00, I could not find any nighthawks at all from
across the street. The next few evenings, especially with the storm coming,
should be interesting. There will probably be other good nights yet to come.
