This is truly the Winter of the Oriole in southeastern Virginia! Another
Baltimore was found in a suburban neighborhood near Tidewater Community
College in Portsmouth by Bob Ake and Bob Anderson (during the Nansemond River
CBC -- 134 spp. total!), and an oriole thought to be Baltimore is frequenting
Susan Hubbard's feeder in West Ghent in Norfolk. (Remember that winter
orioles could be rarer species from the West.) The adult male Baltimore in
breeding plumage is still coming to Jeff and Laurie Klingel's feeders (they
offer cut oranges as well, staked to branches) on Old Cape Charles Road here
in town. Susan also reports a yellowish-green warbler attending her feeder
that might be Orange-crowned or Wilson's (last winter, her yard, which has
had wintering chats on occasion, had an overwintering Wilson's).

(P. S. For those looking for a 2003 Rufous Hummingbird, the female is still
attending feeders here, mostly in the early morning.)
