VA Birders,
In an attempt to estimate the number of breeding Canada Geese in
Fauquier County, myself, Todd Day and the folks at Airlie are going to
do a Canada Goose census on Sunday, June 30th. At that time of the
year, the geese will be molting their flight feathers and will be
confined to water for the duration of their molt making it easy to count
them. Naturally, we are looking for volunteers to help out with this
count. You can participate for a half day or a whole day and you are
welcome to count the other birds you see as well! Please let me know if
you are interested in helping out. Once we find out how many people we
have, we'll start dividing up the territory. We will start by covering
the area of The Plains CBC and expand out if we have enough people.
