There was a Sedge Wren singing for many minutes at Dyke Marsh this morning.
It was observed from the dogleg portion of Haul Rd, on the north side of the
trail past the small wooden bridge (east side). There is an opening just
beyond that lets observers easily see the marsh and the Tree Swallow boxes.
About 35 yds out there is 4-5 scraggly bushes and the Sedge Wren was just to
the right of the rightmost bush in emergent cattail leaves. It had the
typical, washed-out dull reddish-brown look of a Sedge Wren with dirty white
breast and flanks. There were Marsh Wren in the general area, too.
Dyke was very good this morning very birdy. Highlights were the Sedge
Wren, over flying Bobolinks, Veery, 14 species of warbler and White-crowned
Sparrows. The list is below.
