One of the things I like about the list serve is often times things
happening in my neck of the woods are happening in other people backyards or
favorite birding spots too. Just as Todd mentioned, today I heard a Phoebe
singing for the first time this year. I also noticed Eastern Bluebirds and
Purple Finches singing more loudly. The birds are definitely making
"melodia" as I remember Chaucer described it in the opening of Canterbury
Tales. There was a flock of Golden Crowned Kinglets Wilderness MNP,
traveling along with Carolina Chickadees and Creeper. I watched Kinglet find
some tasty morsel, only to have Chickadee take it away! The big flock of 150
or so Coot continues at Lake of the Woods.
