Heard a hummer--probably at my Bleeding Hearts near my porch--about 5 PM. I
wasn't surprised because my azalea near the porch started to bloom April 8 and
a male hummer shows up within just a few days of that happening. Got the
feeder out and it was there in less than 10 minutes!!!!! I feel certain this
is an individual that was here last year as it was not the least bit hesitant
coming to the feeder and landing to feed. Migratory hummers passing through in
fall are always hesitant to land and sometimes seem unsure about how to get to
the liquid. It's obvious they are not my summer residents, but I believe this
one most definitely was a resident in 2020. So nice to think it's survived its
long journey south and back.Â
The Spring Peepers have been phenomenal this year. Right now there are LOTS
of them all around the yard. The ones close to my little pond in the front yard
are deafening. Also, the Green Frogs have been out of hibernation for about a
week or so (I'd need to check my notes, which I can't take time to do right
now).   Sincerely,Marlene
