first reported by Ben Copeland, the EU WI was easily seen in Ridgway Park,
entered from Mercury Blvd. in Hampton. The B-W teals reported by Ben were not
there - it's a very small pond - but the EU WI was casually hanging around the
fringe of about 20 American Wigeons. It's a beautiful male with a gorgeous and
vibrant red head.
I saw another spectacular EU WI last Sat. in California at Kern NWR, birding
with my friend Luke Cole from San Francisco, so I've seen EU WI's on both
coasts within the same week - kind of neat. Earlier on the day last Sat. we
also
had scope views of my life LeConte's thrasher singing atop a salt-bush.
