This is apparently my week for Eurasian Wigeon. Today while Ned Brinkley
and I were birding around the southern Eastern Shore we found a drake Eurasian
Wigeon in the pond at Ramp Lane on the Eastern Shore of Virginia NWR. This is
same location where a bird of this species has been seen on and off over the
past two years. Other sightings of interest included an American Bittern at
one of the ponds in the marina development in Cape Charles, an adult Peregrine
Falcon sitting in a field along Arlington Road, many Eastern Bluebirds and
Savannah Sparrows, and about a hundred Greater Yellowlegs and three
Short-billed Dowitchers on the flotsam at the west end of Oyster harbor.
Cheers,
Bob
