VA Birders,
When we stopped at the Visitor Center at Eastern Shore of VA National
Wildlife Refuge recently, we learned that the center barely escaped being
closed
this year as part of an administration budget cut. The reason given was that
the center didn't get enough visitors. Birders can help to keep the center
from being closed next year by stopping there for a few minutes and signing
the
guest register when birding in the area or passing thru it. The Refuge
Visitor Center is located on Rt. 600, just north of the CBBT, for anyone who
hasn't
been there before. It is open from 9:00 am-4:00 pm at the present time (I'm
not sure about Sunday hours).
