Musick's Campground
South Holston Lake
along the Virginia-Tennessee state border

Rack Cross and I ran the table on grebes at Musick's Campground, South
Holston Lake, today (3/9)  just before dark -- four grebe species at the
same location (Eared Grebe 9, Red-necked Grebe 3, Pied-billed Grebe 14,
Horned Grebe 15).

The 9 Eared Grebe equals the record high forthe Musick's Campground area of
the lake along the line.

The 3 Red-necked Grebes were about 200 yards south of the Virginia line in
Tennessee waters.  The Eared Grebes were found in both Virginia and
Tennessee at various times as they were right on the line.

One grebe led to another, just like it always does at dark at Musick's when
they start appearing out of nowhere.

This is the same time period in which Red-necked Grebes began to show up
over the region and the Southeast in late-winter of last year.

Let's go birding......
