Year after year, looking at the postings of
northern hawkwatching sites, there is a certain
amount of yearning for the huge numbers that
some of those sites rack up. Large numbers of
eagles are often seen at these locations, and as
our site has, at best, seen only 30 or so at it's
best year, those large numbers to us are impressive.
This year we are basking in the glow of lots of
eagles, and the season has hardly started.
Since last Sunday: Sun.-1, Mon.-2, Tues.-1, Wed.-5
(the day of the front, not including and adult Golden
eagle), Thurs.-2, and Fri.-2, for a total of 13. Lots
of veterans will not be too impressed (along with
the coastal birders that see them all the time),
but for us, we're loving it!!!
Today was the best day of the season in terms
of species and numbers, and some will probably
wonder what we celebrated with at the Knob when
they read the species, but here it is;
