With special permission a small group of us did a survey of birds at the Dulles
Greenway Wetlands Mitigation Project early this morning. We saw 11 species of
shorebirds with the highlights including a single Baird's Sandpiper, two
Short-billed Dowitchers and a Semipalmated Plover. Our other highlights
included a single Olive-sided Flycatcher seen by Jon Little & B.J. Westervelt,
a Northern Harrier, a Bald Eagle and 4 Willow Flycatchers behaving as if they
were a family unit. See below for the entire list.
Also, some of you may be int'd in a Birds, Butterflies and Wildflowers walk led
by Stan Shetler and Joe Coleman at the Blue Ridge Center next Saturday, Sept. 4
at 8:30 a.m.. Contact me if you might be int'd and want additional information.
