After a careful perusal of available literature, the unknown skipper from
this morning was a Carolina Roadside-Skipper. It was a dorsal view and the
pattern of white spots matched those in the BTB guide. A ventral view would
not have been so puzzling, but we weren't given such a view.
However, the Creole Pearly-Eye was not a Creole; it was indeed the more
commonly encountered Southern Pearly-Eye. I'll just have to look harder (and
more carefully) for my Creole P-E.
