Five of us from the Virginia Beach Audubon Society birded Jerico Ditch Lane
(Dismal Swamp) midday on Saturday, Apr. 22. Highlights (in addition to the
other's posted for that day by the Hampton Roads Bird Club) were a Swainson's
Warbler, first heard and then seen at the pink ribbon marker #522. When we
returned to our cars we noticed a bobcat in the road ahead of us. We observed
him for several minutes as he walked along. Also of note, earlier in the day
we were shown a Purple Gallinule which had been picked up DOR near Suffolk from
Pitch Kettle Road.
