To follow on Susan's sighting of dickcissels below, I too heard them Friday
afternoon on the Wilna tract of the Rappahannock River Valley NWR.
Visitors will easily hear them from the refuge road leading toward the
pond.  They don't usually appear two years in a row, so this is an
interesting treat.

All,

While conducting a Fauquier County big day today Todd Day, Ian Topolsky,
and I found two singing Dickcissels along Grassdale Road (just south of
the Remington Sod Farms along Sumerduck Road).  Both birds were on the
wires singing away around 5:30pm today.  I believe Todd will post a
summary of our big day as I am much too tired to do it now.  Just wanted
to get the word out about the Dickcissels.
